For wiping, it makes sense to use something else.

I’ve been using Synapse with Element X (earlier Element) for years. I remember, notifications were a problem some time ago, but it got a lot better. I also have ntfy as notification backend.

With Element X there are finally video conferences possible.

It uses an unusual PostgreSQL extension. Maybe an update is not that trivial.

Personally, I think that installing it on a bare metal Windows Server system is quite an achievement.

I have it installed using docker compose on Linux. So my setup is rather unspectacular.
