2·23 days agoHubs ADHD is making mint off my noodling - modified bingie on Kodi so he can find new and interesting things on the massive file server, an internally .htaccess’d domain that holds QR codes for him to check operating instructions and guides, and HA so he can make sure he’s turned lights off and tell him when the tea is steeped.

2·27 days agoYup. It’s how i’ve been running for years. The only thing that presents outside the house is port 80 on the apache server (despite having some incredibly intricate home automation)
Mind you, i’m also old enough to have spent my formative years without even the concept of “available everywhere”. Lotta peeps nowadays have not, and the idea of no internet / no access is genuinely terrifying to them

Apache webserver, very low level only the la part of a lamp. File server. Two proxmox, one to fuck around with vms on, one “production” hosting a HA instance, middleman on alpine that lists symlinks of contents on the file server in kodi-friendly naming format for the kodi machines in the lounge / bedroom /brewery and firewalled XP machine for legacy drivers on older camera equipment. Win7 machine physically airgapped and KVM’d on my main monitor/keyboard for my old school games and programs. Also has a CRU for drive recovery / backups. OpenWRT firewall.
